Book 2:Think Ahead by Craig Groeschel

John C. Maxwell says, "We decide our habits; the habits decide our future." Where we are today is a result of the many decisions we made in the past. This is the one thing that separates humans from animals: our ability to choose.

This book review blog discusses three decisions from Craig Groeschel's Think Ahead that we can use to guide the next years of our lives..

The average human makes between 33 000 and 35 000 decisions a day. This includes what we will eat and where to do our groceries. Psychologist and author Dr. Benjamin Hardy says this often leads to decision fatigue and leaves us feeling overwhelmed.

Here are 3 things we can pre-decide today to make our tomorrow better.

1.I will be an Influencer: Simply put, the word influence means to have an effect on someone's behavior or character. Sadie Robertson says, "Not everyone is famous, but we are all influencers." With our many differences, there are things God has set for us to influence and change in the world. We need to decide ahead of time that we will use our gifts and talents to influence those around us for good.nts to influence those around us for good.

2.I will be consistent: Those who are great at what they do have put in 10,000 hours of practice. If a day only has 24 hours, it means they have had to do it every day for 1 year, 1 month, and 21 days. It is not that we do not know what to do to transform our lives; we have never been consistent in doing it long enough. If we pre-decide to stay consistent on the gym program, in learning the new skill and building that business, soon enough results will come. One day, we too can be considered experts in what we do.

If you devote only one hour a week to anything, you are not likely at all to grow or improve significantly in that area of your life.

3.I will be a finisher: On January 1st, many people start working on new goals, but only 8% will actually achieve their goals. People never finish reading the books they buy or see the idea they had to completion. It is not about having a perfect finish, but what finishing and quitting teach us. If we regularly have unfinished projects, it becomes a habit. Even before it gets hard, because we are used to quitting, we always give up. We need to become people who finish what we start. We can take time to rest and fuel up, but we must be determined to finish.

The are 6 decisions that the  book touches on but these three are the ones that resonated with me the most. What good is it to have influence if you dot use it when it matters the most? The many good things we know to do do not matter if we are not consistent. No matter how small, anything done long enough will soon bring results. Anything that will help us stretch, improve and have a significant impact in the world will be hard. When we commit to our ONE THING, we must commit to also finishing.

i'd love to hear from you:

  • Which of these 3 do you think you can make a different in your life?
